I have this moderate-in-strength suspicion that if one were to look at the transaction (etc.) records at the publisher (Grüninger) (if this is still possible, if the records are held at some library archive or somewhere) for the one and only work recorded in HMB for Metzdorf, K., (or at the autograph manuscript of the piece itself if that were possible...) one would find the K to be a misread somewhat similar letter - perhaps R for Richard Metzdorf(f) who sometimes (or so claims MusicSack) went by just one f-at-end-of surname, for example. Someone who really knows Richard Metzdorff’s works- I suspect there may be such people - could see if there are stylistic imprints in the Neujahrsgrüss suggesting his music...
