2 more Symphonies? (9 symphonies in all (I'm assuming they are not counting the Sinfonietta - Schissel) and an alternate version of the 6th, according to the Gouvy Institute)
The cpo recording with Jacques Mercier claims to be "The complete symphonies" (4 CDs), so the nine symphonies counted by the Gouvy Institute seem to include: Nos. 1–6(7), Symphonie brève (Op. 58), and Sinfonietta (Op. 80). The ninth work in this recording is Fantaisie symphonique (Op. 69, orchestrated version), which definitely can not count as a symphony. Hence the ninth should be a certain Symphony in B minor composed between Nos. 2 and 3 and "discarded after its premiere was a failure" (booklet notes to cpo 777 379-2). As cpo has not recorded it, perhaps the manuscript is lost (?).
Sérénade in G major for flute, oboe, 2 clarinets, 2 horns and 2 bassoons (1893 November 12)
6 String Quartets (Nos.6-11, unpublished) including quartets in A minor, E minor and D major from 1848 (see Bru Zane), and a quartet in G from 1888 (see Bru Zane)
