According to Niemölle and Hiller (Nikolaus Listenius, in The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians) this book is a corrected version of Listenius's treatise Rudimenta musicae (first published in 1533), which became very popular as an initial music theory method in Germany and Austria at the time, and it had more than 40 editions between 1537 and 1583.
