- Composed for solo piano, 1859 (= S.439).
Based not only on the battle-hymn from Act III but on motives from the overture and elsewhere; as Howard points out in his notes for Hyperion Records, Liszt's one Wagner adaptation which is much more a fantasia (as per title) than a transcription.
