| Extra Information | This homotonal quintet suite is a collection of three pieces written based on themes from John Eccles, Leopold Mozart, Joseph Brackett and John Barrett with new interpretations in instrumentation and harmony. The first movement, Minuet, fuses a D Major theme from John Eccles with a D minor theme from Leopold Mozart, with similarities between the two sections of the piece which tells a collective story throughout in a simple, familiar tertiary form. The second movement is an andante on “Simple Gifts”, an old Shaker melody generally attributed to Joseph Brackett. The third movement, Rigaudon, acts as a conclusion to the whole suite with the inclusion of a dance-like melody which rings throughout the movement. |
