Navigation etc.

  • Also published by Richault at some point during the 1830s- very different engraving, different plates, neither a reprint of the other. (Indeed, the first page of the 1st violin part of the Richault contains about 5 bars less than the corresponding page in the 1st violin part of the Peters- different plate nos. aside, difficult to do with a reprint.)
  • The dedicatee is (almost definitely) Nikolay Borisovich Galitzine, the same cellist who commissioned Beethoven's last string quartets.
