Includes quote from principal theme of Symphony No.1, Op.13 (thought to be lost at the time) at the end of the first movement. The third movement quotes the "Alliuiya" from the Vespers, Op.37. Like the Symphony No.1, the Isle of the Dead Op. 29 or the Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini, Op. 43, this work has quite a few quotes of the Dies irae.
