Reconstructed from partial autograph scores in the Library of Congress and the British Library.
Casella's editions of the Symphonies in D major and C major were registered for U.S. copyright protection in 1936 (see registration nos. 28491, 28492) but, apparently, were not renewed before the expiration of the 28 year term then in force under U.S. law.
Assuming sources are correct that this was WO 33 and not sym.4 ; libraries whose WC link goes somewhere (not "Worldcat does not have a library that...") claim the publication year was 1938 not 1936, and HMB agrees more or less (Monatsbericht (1939), p.101). The Catalog of Copyright Entries argument is more convincing, though, yes...
