 - German folksong, 'Hier sitz ich auf Rasen' - tune attributed to Klamer Schmidt (1746 - 1824). 'Von der
 wanderschaft zurüch' - German folksong. 'Fritze Bollmann' - Satirical song aimed at Johann Friedrich

Andreas Bollmann (1852 - 1901) and 'Ach Gott, wie weh tut Scheiden' - German folksong. Fourth movement: based on 'Vogelhochzeit' - early 17th century German tune and 'Als ich ein jung' Geselle war'- 16th century tune.
