Talk:6 String Trios, G.95-100 (Op.14) (Boccherini, Luigi)

Boccherini's first set of string trios in the classical instrumentation (violin, viola, cello). The cello part of No.1-3 is very demanding (including much use of thumb-position and double stops). The slow movement of No.1 is taken from the cello sonata G.17 (even the instrumentation has changed only slightly: the cello remains the leading voice, the viola takes the basso part of the sonata, while the first violin adds only some minor details). The interesting chromatic theme of No.2 is remarkably similar to the beginning of the trio of the minuetto of No.1. The Allegretto smorfioso of No.3 is used again in the guitar quintet G.446. Cgo
