please read: these are the earliest known (at the moment?) publication dates. Some works here are suspected :) to have been published earlier, however, by French firms (e.g. Brandus of Paris) and others not mentioned in HMB for example, and the more information that can be obtained on those publications, the more "rational" the opus number scheme may start to seem. (The composition dates, however, will sometimes, I gather, lag far behind publication dates in some cases - several decades in at least one case and just perhaps in a few, the former according to the article on the opus 73 concerto at Hyperion Records, the latter conjecture and extrapolation on this writer’s part.)
