In regards to written cues, I've felt them to be necessary only for the piccolo. The conductor can cue in the trombones and the strings as necessary, and percussionists, I'm told, are used to counting lots of rests. That leaves the piccolo, whose player the conductor might possible forget to cue in. Alonso del Arte 22:53, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
