Schirmer, like some other publishers, could be stingy with editor information (e.g. "S.J., editor") which is why it’s useful if a dictionary mentions that such and so worked as an editor at a published. (I was going to give Scharfenberg as an example as Schirmer comes up in a brief biography written during his lifetime, I think, but his name is credited multiple times in full on scores anyway.
