not sure where to put this...

not sure at all actually- but if one uses VIAF and BNF records and notices that BNF seems to list an exact death date for a composer (e.g. Felix Chaudoir who seems to be listed as dying in 1904) - look more closely (esp. look more closely at the original VIAF record here) - it says clearly 'flourished' "? 1904" - no clear birth or death date, just a good flourishing date on the south-end, so to speak. Also not sure where to add this- will probably do so in two places

the library BNF is one of the few I have run into that is consistent about attributing not only the composers, editors, librettists of music but also the illustrators of printed scores. It is a concern that comes to my mind, that if any of these illustrators died after 1960, it is of course an issue- well, for the BNF library too probably, but...? (and as with some of the composers, if anything perhaps moreso?- it is really hard to tell in a number of cases- VIAF//BNF contains too little information about them really... as usual, one does what one can, I suppose. Well, I guess there’s not really a -question- here per se, just a ... "note!" ... Eric 21:11, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
