A parody of the just recently (beginning to be) popular (and also recent, first published 1879, it seems?) Die Türkische Schaarwache, Op.83, by Theodor Michaelis ("The Turkish Patrol"). The parts of a band arrangement of Schleiffarth's parody were published by Thompson & Odell in 1880, likewise a piano arrangement by Root & Sons in the same year.
