I studied harpsichord, harmony, musical analysis, counterpoint at Conservatoire de musique de Montréal (Québec, Canada) many years ago. Unrelatedly, I own a Ph.D. in mathematics from UQAM. My aim in editing scores of sonatas for a soloist instrument (flute, recorder, violin...) and continuo is to provide realizations of figured bass which are idiomatic of the harpsichord writing, and contrapuntally interesting, whereas realizations from usual editions are too pianistic and cumbersome.
