Hello! My name is Megan Marie Hart, and I am an internationally known spinto soprano. I am debuting Salome in January 2027, so I needed to start learning the role, but every available vocal score for purchase is Boosey and Hawkes, which has a very frustrating English translation in it, and it is also very small and cramped so it is difficult to read, and has incidental notations in it that match the english, which is very hard to work with because you have to actively ignore these extra notes. Salome is hard enough music to learn without this extra hardship. Booosey and Hawkes acquired the rights in 1943, so I knew I needed to buy the oldest copy I could find, of which I found exactly three in the world that were for sale, but two of them had writing in them. I need a clean legible copy to write my own notes in. My friend helped me find the third unmarked vocal score from 1905 through an obscure antique book dealer, and I had my husband Stefan digitally scan and clean up the score so that it would be a highly legible spacious gorgeous copy of Salome in German ONLY (which means there is room for singers to write their OWN notes and translations in it in the OWN languages, which is a game changer!). We then had this copy printed by a professional, so I now have a large pure and READABLE Salome score. I highly recommend singers use this new score, although I spent considerable expense on this venture, I did not want to gatekeep this, and I hope it will help all those singers and vocal coaches who are learning Salome in the future!
