User talk:Chsmall

Hi Chsmall. Unfortunately, the files you uploaded for Gade's F minor String Quartet had to be deleted, because they were scans of an edition from 1998, which is much too recent to appear on IMSLP. IMSLP voluntarily keeps editions newer than 25 years off the site as a courtesy to publishers. (Even if this policy were not in place, the edition would be blocked from access because it is under copyright in the US and EU anyway. You may wish to see IMSLP:Copyright Made Simple for more information on the subject of copyright law as it applies to IMSLP.) Thanks, KGill talk email 19:29, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Spech quartets

Did you acquire the Spech quartets opus 2 from BSB (Bavarian library digital scans?) There's a template BSB ({{BSB}}) we put in the scanner field we use to provide proper attribution of source for that (which is important :) ) If not, may I ask (in any case, not being hostile- just asking!) - where the scans did come from if you remember, so that one can fill in the "unknown" that's presently in the "scanner" field there? (If your own collection of music, then one puts one's own name, if from some online source, then one puts the website, generally, or a template from the list in Category:External library templates or something similar. Anyhow, thanks for contributing and hope you will continue! Eric 10:28, 21 March 2012 (EDT)

Hi Eric, Apparently Bayerische Staatsbibliothek M√ľnchen is the only library on the planet which has a copy of these quartets. They sent me a copy: each page a separate JPEG, about 75 in all! From these I created 4 PDF files, one for each part, and uploaded to IMSLP. Can you do whatever is necessary to add the information? I'm a newbie at uploading -- but an old hand at downloading  ;-)

There is a button above many but not all BSB uploads allowing one to download the whole "bundle" as a PDF rather than individual jpg files so long as one goes through a few things first... can explain further in the morning :) - Eric (oh sorry, misread, by "the information" I see you were referring to what I was referring to- I'd lost track of the conversation. Really should sleep, I should, just now. Still, yes, the PDF-Download link at the top right is very useful when it's not disabled as it is for some BSB Bundles.
