Composer Listings

Dear Gclefpublishing,

It's fine to have the full reference for your book on the Belaieff page (where it is now). We limit the composer pages to references about the specific composer in question. Adding a big "Reference" section to a composer page is not a good idea as it pushes the actual title listings further down the page. I am not completely familiar with this book. Does it include extensive listings of each of the composers' works, including mentions of composition and first performance dates? If so, it might be OK to add to the main section of the composer category in the "|List Pages=" field for some of the more obscure composers, in a much more concise form than the listing found on the publisher page. BTW, when answering of commenting on the user pages here, use four tilde signs (~~~~) to sign your name. Thanks, Carolus 01:52, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply,
The book absolutely does include extensive listings and all information is taken from the original Russian sources that are unavailable in English textbooks. Some of the lesser known composers are not available in Russian textbooks either (references were taken from letters of well known composers and critics). The book includes many title pages of rare works. While the book can be read by anyone with an interest in music of the period, it was written with a desire to share knowledge of this important part of Russian Music history with scholars and musicians who are unable to find this information elsewhere.
Do let me know how you think we can proceed to include this seminal reference work in the IMSLP listings.

OK, this is good to know. We can add a link on the some (maybe all) of the composers. I'll go ahead and set up the one for Balakirev so you can see how it is done. See the response on my talk page also - I am fairly certain that none of the regular contributors here has seen a copy of this book. Our plate number listings are compiled from works we actually have on the site, or from listings found in libraries (such as WorldCat). I'll inform the other admin that it will be OK for this to be added. Carolus 18:48, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Many thanks, however instead of the Amazon link, can we use the direct link of www.gclefpublishing.com - it provides far more information than the Amazon listing does.

Perhaps. I'll look and see. The Amazon links do help pay the server bills around here, which are not insignificant. Carolus 19:53, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Understood, perhaps we can offer a 10% discount on the book to IMSLP users if purchased via our direct order site. Let me know if you would like to pursue this.
