Árpád Kákonyi

Dear Rp, Are you this composer, or do you have his permission to post his work here. Please advise as we will have to delete your uploads as possible copyright violations unless you affirm you are the composer or have his permission. BTW, please use "New Compostion" for these as they are not Public Domain. Thanks, Carolus 06:14, 9 March 2011 (UTC) (IMSLP Copyright Admin)

Dear Carolus, I am the composer, Árpád Kákonyi from Hungary. I hope it is not a problem that I upload my compositions this way. They are all public domains, there are no copyrights. Greetings: rp

Dear Rp, Thanks for responding. It is not possible (legally) to place your work in the literal public domain in many countries. If you wish to allow all uses of your works for free - even commercial uses where someone may copy the files you uploaded here and sell them on Ebay with no payment to yourself - use the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license. This allows unlimited use as long as you are correctly credited as the composer. Otherwise, we recommend that composers employ the Creative Commons Attribution Non-commercial No Derivatives 3.0 license, which allows for free use as long as you are credited and the performance or distribution is non-commercial in nature. For now, I will tag your works as Creative Commons Attribution 3.0. Best Wishes, Carolus 06:50, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Dear Carolus! Thank you! How can I tag my compositions as Creative Commons Attribution 3.O myself? I don't care if somebody uses these files, I just want to share them and I want to do it in a way it is possible. Is it possible me to upload more of my own compositions if I tag them somehow as Creative Commons Attribution? Thank you for your help! Best Wishes: rp

It's actually easy. When uploading using the "Add a score file to this page" link on a work page, for File/Image Type use "New Compositions" instead of "Normal Scan". This will allow you to choose one of the Creative Commons licenses in the Copyright field. The Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 (which is almost like public domain) is abbreviated as "by 3.0" in the pull-down menu. That's all there is to it. If you look at the works you've already uploaded you will see how I changed them so that you are listed as "publisher" (this is because making your works available here meets the legal definition of "publication" in most countries, and we wish for those using these works to contact the composers with questions, etc.). Dear Carolus, thank you very much! I will try it! Best regards: rp
