According to Alessandro Turba (who wrote the liner notes for the world premiere recording of this sonata by violinist Alessio Bidoli and pianist Bruno Canino), "Saint-Saëns recalled having performed this ‘youthful indiscretion’ together with his dedicatee: Antoine Bessems". No date is given for this performance, however it almost certainly would have been during Saint-Saëns' childhood.
