Extra Information | *William Ballet's lute book regives some music being popular in the time of Elizabeth I of England (1533-1603). It consists of 2 manuscripts being packetised in the 18th c. (Trinity College Dublin, MS 408/1 and MS 408/2). The first probably from 1590 and the second maybe added after 1610 (dating c.1593-1603). Some pieces were current around 1580. For more information see Matthew Spring: The Lute in Britain: A History of the Instrument and Its Music.
