Misc. Notes:

Plate suggests ca.1883. HMB lists 1880s publications of Comala in 1885 (klavierauszug, "Volks-ausgabe" edition), 1888 (chorus parts only) and in 1889 (new, corrected edition). Forget plate, which is often misleading; -description- is closest to the 1889 edition.
#283803: Original images: 165dpi, color tif files approx. 1710 by 2200 pixels.
Editing: converted to black and white tif files, de-skewed, re-sampled to 600dpi, and set uniform margins.

  • Solo roles: Comala, Fingal, Dersagrena, Melicoma, and there is a Soprano II solo in no.5
  • In no.4, Gade specifies "Chor der Jungfrauen"
A book on the standard cantatas gives "1843" for premiere date, but the 1846 April AMZ (Allgemeine musikalische Zeitung, Volume 48, starting page 225) reports on the premiere and describes it as a new work. - Schissel

The composer specifies Symphonic Poem/Dramatic poem, not cantata.
