| Extra Information
|
Sarti's most popular opera seria, widely performed all over Europe until the early 19th century. The present score was published after a revival at the Teatro San Carlo, Naples, in 1786. - If you are looking for the famous aria "Lungi dal caro bene" please don't be disappointed that it is not included here. The cavatina I found that first appeared in Giulio Sabino, with Marchesi as Sabino in London 1788, probably composed by the director of the theatre Joseph Mazzinghi for the Marchesi's voice and added in act I scene 1. If you search that aria is in a Longman & Broderip edition with many arias.
