This is not the version of the concerto usually played today - see Talk page.

This "urtext" or "scholarly" (scientific) edition was published at least 25 years ago in the EU (or 20 years ago in Italy, before 1992 in the former USSR). Hence, the edition is public domain in its country of origin or a government publication. Such editions are also public domain in Canada because they fail to meet the minimum 'threshold of originality' to qualify for copyright as an 'adaptation'. It may not be public domain elsewhere, however. More information about this can be found here.

Publication History

The concerto has a muddled publication history, owing to Jurgenson's retention of the original plate numbers for revised editions. There are three main versions, of which the third is the one with which we're familiar today; however, this was ignored by the editors of the Soviet complete edition (Polnoe sobranie sochinenii), who reproduced only the First and Second versions.
