WorldCat also gives 1902. There is also a publication of this work in 1926, according to Worldcat (though Monatsbericht (1926), p.70 claims this is Alexander's Op.11 quartet in A minor- but Alexander Tcherepnine's op.11 belongs to something else.)
There is a 2nd String Quartet op.40, also in A minor. Wrong, there is no second quartet. Alexander Tcherepnine has a string quartet which is his op.40. Nikolai's op.40 is Narcisse et Echo [Нарцисс и Эхо], ballet (1911)
