Talk:List of Compositions Featuring the Double Bass

Do all of the Beethoven Symphonies really feature the cello or bass? Especially No.1 :)-- Snailey Yell at me Email me 12:31, 18 March 2009 (EDT)

Well, all of them do certainly contain the regular five-way string section, Vn 1/2, Va, Vc, and Cb, right? Plus, the composite Cello/Bass-parts typical for Beethoven's time are all available here, aren't they? (In fact, way back then, these parts were generally labelled Basso :o)). I do admit, though, that the bass part of the First Symphony may not be the most spectacular of its kind. But my idea was to first collect everything that offers a double bass part of whatever kind, and later move the "regular" orchestra parts, the everyday work, if you will, to another subpage - much like the List_of_Compositions_with_Orchestral_Cello_Parts. --Rainer Lewalter 13:55, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
Umm... List of Orchestra or Band Pieces with Parts Available; just put in "Bass Part" or something.-- Snailey Yell at me Email me 21:18, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
That's a very interesting bit of info - I hadn't any idea that such a list exists, so thank you! Still, does that mean that the existence of one list precludes the other? A performer/teacher/student of any given instrument, I suppose, is very likely to search the IMSLP in quite another way than an orchestra leader, who in turn will probably have a more practical approach than the musicologist. Is the idea, maybe, to keep the number of such lists restricted? --Rainer Lewalter 05:35, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
