On the initiative of Thomas Laub, two volumes of the collection En Snes danske Viser were published in 1915 and 1917. The volumes contain in all forty-five melodies by Laub and Nielsen. For the first volume, Nielsen completed the first draft of fifteen songs in little more than a fortnight in December 1914. In the course of less than two months in December 1914 and January 1915, Laub and Nielsen produced twenty-three songs in all. The two composers commented on each other's work during their collaboration.
