I wrote these four "Dances" in High School for Becky Mambert. In my piano lessons I was playing the little keyboard pieces of J. S. Bach and had become enamored with his 2-voice counterpoint. However, I couldn't resist allowing myself to go as far afield as I wanted with modulations. Apparently Bach did so also when he was improvising.
