The names of the Bagatelles do not make sense, which can be regarded as a homage to the 150th anniversary of Eric Satie. Unfortunately the pun does not readily translate into other languages.

The one-minute Prologue is based on 3-4 notes from the major scale. The Epilogue mirrors the Prologue measure by measure, but is in minor mode instead of major, in triple time instead of duple meter, and the music moves always in opposite directions in these two pieces.

The pulse in the Cardiologist corresponds to the pulse of a person in mediocre physical condition; also a few arrhythmias occur. Similarly descriptive material is not found in the Urologist, except perhaps in the final measures.

The Pathologist is a collage of themes borrowed from famous mourning music (the Requiems by Mozart, Verdi and Brahms, Panis Angelicus by Franck, the Marcia funebre in Eroica). Notes not derived from these form a minority.
