Adolphe Sax (1814-1894), the Belgian inventor of the saxophone, published works for his instrument from 1845 to 1875 by composers such as Jean-Baptiste Singelée, Jérôme Savari, Jean-Baptiste Victor-Mohr, Louis-Adolphe Mayeur, J.-Baptiste Arban, Hyacinthe Klosé, Jules Demersseman, Paul-Agricole Genin and Léon Chic.
