A very similar piece (but with the main theme in the violin, not piano, at least for the opening) was published by Boosey as Bériot's 6th Air and variations, opus 9 ca.1825 (see IArch for the solo part.) In E major with an E minor introduction - hence, E major.

Mentioned in Journal général d'annonces des œuvres de musique, gravures... (Volume 3, 4 July 1827 issue) with piano or orchestral accompaniment.
