Extra Information	This song results from a poetry contest, organized by Le Figaro in 1919, remembering the end of WW1: six prominent composers (Saint-Saëns, Bruneau, Messager, Widor, Fauré and Hahn) were then invited to choose their favourite among the winning poems, and set it to music. Fauré was not comfortable with the poem of M^elle Debladis, so he edited and shortened the text.

Nectoux lists the song's key as A major, but note its opening few measures are in A minor.
