| Extra Information
|
This cantata uses the famous medieval hymn of Saint Francis about Gods creation in nature which also became the base for church songs. The lyrics include prayers and the different elements of Gods creation: the Sun, the Moon, the stars, the four aristotelic elements Wind (air), Water, Fire and Earth, and the physical Death. They all are mentioned, praise and welcomed as Man's brothers and sisters, also Death. The poetic greatness of the lyrics of Saint Francis as an expression of his deep and humble faith in God can not be overrated. The language is old, but the topic is modern and ecological. The cantata is published for free use including study, performance and recording.
