According to Jos. Joubert biographical notes for Les Maîtres contemporains de l'orgue vol. 3 & 5 (1912-14), José M. Béobide was born in Zumaya (Guipúzcoa, Basque autonomous country, Spain) in 1884. After his musical studies in Madrid, he was appointed organist and music teacher in Quito (Ecuador), and later went back to Spain as a pianist, organist and composer. He died in Burgos in 1967.
