Miscellaneous information
- Younger son of a marginally more famous composer of the same name, Louis-Joseph Daussoigne, who was allowed to add his uncle, the famous composer Méhul's name as an extra surname, hence: Joseph Daussoigne-Méhul (1790-1875). Quite a few sources have "1829-after 1896", but the Monatshefte für Musikgeschichte for 1903, list of 1902 deaths, p.118 has clearly "Daussoigne-Méhul, Klaviervirtuose und Komponist, st. 72 Jahr alt in seinem Geburtsorte Lüttich Ende Mai. Guide 476." (More accurately 73?) Hence, born and died in Liège, Belgium, and died in May 1902.
