The 1911 census shows he was then Musical Director at a theatre in Wakefield, Yorkshire. In 1891 and 1901 living at Southend-on-Sea, Essex. Affectionately called Loo E. Elgar in his publications, not believed related to the better-known Sir Edward Elgar. Composer of popular theatrical music, including "Coo-ee: Our Australian Home", a song in tribute to the Australian soldiers who served on the Western Front in World War I.
