Miscellaneous information
- There are a few possibilities for the identity of this composer, the most likely being Paul de La Pierre, who is probably to be identified with M. de La Pierre le vieux. He was born in Avignon (France), later establishing himself in Turin (Italy) around 1662, where he died around 1689. His children include Paul (Paolo) de La Pierre l'aîné (born c.1637-died after 1689) and Théophyle de La Pierre, whose daughter Jeanne (Giovanna) Constance de La Pierre married Marc Roger Normand (dit Couperin) in 1725. Several harpsichord pieces by those composers are handwritten in the Livre de Tablature de Clavescin de Mr. de Druent écrit par Couperin, Turin (ca.1695). Minkoff Reprint (1998). Davitt Moroney editor.
- A link between this family and Mademoiselle de La Pierre is likely, but has yet to be confirmed. See Manuscrit de Mademoiselle de La Pierre, F-Pn Rés. Vmd ms.18
