Miscellaneous information
My name is Ren-Jie Li, a contemporary Taiwanese and Chinese, composing and playing piano music as my hobby, and I am self-taught in composing. My compositional inspiration partly came from the counterpoint of the Baroque period, blending traditional and contemporary styles. When I was 13, I heard a female classmate playing the piano, and the beautiful sound deeply moved me. This sparked my interest in learning the instrument, so I told my family about my newfound passion. Within just a few days, they found me a highly experienced piano teacher, a graduate of National Taiwan Normal University—who, by coincidence, lived right in the neighboring community. After one year of learning the piano, being recommended by my piano teacher and former music teacher, I accepted their advice and took the ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory and Grade 8 Piano Performance examinations, both of which I passed with Distinction. This remains one of the most honorable achievements in my life.
