Influential Prussian soldier, administrator and politician of 1830-70 era
From 1828-42 he was Generalintendantur der Königlichen Schauspiele, responsible for Berliner Königliche Schauspielhaus am Gendarmenmarkt and Königliche Oper Unter den Linden. He was successor to Carl von Brühl (1772—1837).
He had the monumental Palais Redern built in 1830 to house his art collection. It was demolished in 1909 to make way for the famous Hotel Adlon, now Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin
He was an amateur composer, and wrote an opera Christine, Königin von Schweden. (1820)
