Misc. Comments

While it was later established that J.C. Bach did not write this concerto, and that Casadesus did, it was initially published under the following titles:

  • Johann Christian Bach (Henri Casadesus) Konzert C-Moll für Viola und Orchester; Ausgabe für Viola (Violine oder Violoncello) und Klavier
  • Concerto en Ut mineur pour alto avec accompagnement d'orchestre: reconstitué et harmonisé par Henri Casadesus, orchestré par Francis Casadesus (1870-1954)

Both the viola and cello versions were published in 1947, and the 1947 cover page for the viola/piano reduction mentions the violin version, which must have already existed. However, the cello version was "revisée par" Maurice Maréchal and the violin version was "revisée par" André Tourret. Therefore, those versions are treated as arrangements, with the viola version treated as the original, and tagged as such.
