  • The later edited publications of this work have the subtitle "12 Charakterstücke", but it is unclear whether the original title page (not yet uploaded) included this term or whether the term was Hensel's or the editor's. In a letter, Hensel referred to it as a cycle, so this is tagged as pieces, but if an original title page shows "12 Charakterstücke", then the tag should be changed to "character pieces".
The subtitle is in the ms.
  • Liana Șerbescu's edition differs severely from the multicolor manuscript, especially in Nos. 6, 8, 10, and 12. Not only the music, but also some tempo markings and titles (e.g. Nos.1, 7, and 9 are left untitled in the ms). Maybe it presents an earlier version?
