Misc. Comments

Composed for Salomon Sulzer. Several early abschrifts with German text exist, including one with German text by Moses Mendelssohn (1729-1786) (the latter published in 1870 by Gotthard.)

There is an (interesting) article on this psalm ("Schubert and Sulzer revisited: a recapitulation of the events leading to Schubert's setting in Hebrew of Psalm XCII, D 953" (pp.47-60) by Elaine Brody in "Schubert Studies: Problems of Style and Chronology" (CUP Archive, Sep 23, 1982, editors Eva Badura-Skoda, Peter Branscombe).
