Extra Information | Version history. *María Martínez Sierra (1874-1974) is supposedly the co-author of her husband Gregorio's adaptation of the 1874 Alarcón novella - also the basis of Hugo Wolf's Der Corregidor. The extent of her contribution is unknown. The adaptation is merely a derivative of the Alarcón original in any case and unlikely to meet the threshold of originality in several locales. This seems to be a favorite stunt of publishers lately. No credit to María of any kind appears on the printed scores, naturally. |
