There are several imponderables referring to Tárrega's Estudios and Preludios:
- Often no original scores/manuscripts are available, not from Tárrega nor from one of his pupils or friends. Many items can't be verified because of that.
- Even original editions may have an erroneously wrong "Tárraga"-label, like this one: Francisco Tárrega: "Estudio en La", Ildefonso Alier, Madrid, Plate 5517, 2 editons is in reality the Scherzo from Tomás Damas: "Amor Paterno, Andante y Scherzo".
- There is no universal handling calling an item from Tárrega an Etude or a Prelude, it is often done as wanted.
- The numbering is alike, it is irrelevant.
