Originally written as a flute sonata in 1973, a cello part was added (with some reorganization of material between instruments) in 2016 to make a trio. Both pieces were then marginally extended in 2017. Both versions are available here. In 2025, I was invited to arrange this for flute, piano and bassoon, which was then performed in a workshop of the Australian chamber music society. This is available here as an arrangement. In September 2025, after several workshop performances, I made some minor changes in order to (1) simplify the piano part, especially in the slower sections to assist in inter-instrument coordination and (2) as far as possible to make the flute and piano parts identical across the three versions available here.
