Composer's statement: "This one is a long shot for the mind but a straight shot for the heart. It's the last work I've composed and feels like the last one I need to! Wondered what it would mean to experience music that might melt the walls down, like Daniel in the movie 'As It Is in Heaven' who yearned since childhood to create music that could open people's hearts... even one person's (mine?). This setting comes from the Forgiveness Meditation of Stephen Levine and was mentioned by the Levines on their Facebook site during their brief return to teaching via levinetalks.com... I know I had mixed motives for creating it: hoping to capture the Levines' attention and do something spiritually worthy: all that 'me-stuff' that just gets in the way of the deeper point. The musical result, in spite of me, has something to offer that I don't want to ignore and so I share it with you. Forgiveness is worth it."
