Possibly extracted, as was Scharfenberg's and Schirmer's occasional practice, from a suite. Might also be a reduction to one piano of Pirani's Gavotte Op.34 in D for 2 pianos (recently published at the time) (transposed from D to D-flat? Just down a semitone, I guess.) A gavotte implied to be for solo piano, and another for violin and piano - perhaps arrangements of Op.34? - are mentioned in reviews (and side mentions) of performances (of concerts, salon performances, etc.- it was a popular work) of the time. Absent a score of op.34 and the other Pirani gavottes it's hard to compare this work with them, of course.
