Arranger Hans Jorgen Messerschmidt (b. 1944)
Publisher. Info. Hans Jorgen Messerschmidt, 2019.
Copyright
Misc. Notes Though the arranger credits this to Charles Villiers Stanford, and cites O'Neill, the "Green Jacket" Hornpipe in O'Neill that matches this exactly is credited to "Cronin". It is not known which Cronin, but at any rate this is definitely not by Stanford. Further, the arranger has it as a hornpipe, but in the O'Neill book cited, it is a reel.

  • Published in Music of Ireland (O'Neill, Francis) (Chicago: Lyon & Healy, 1903), no.1490, p.276, though it is not known whether that was the first publication. It was also published in 1907 in The Dance Music of Ireland (O'Neill, Francis) (Chicago: Lyon & Healy), no.714, p.126.
  • O'Neill credits it to "Cronin", though there are many people with that surname. There is a Paddy Cronin in VIAF who is an Irish fiddler, but he was only bprn in 1925, so it couldn't have been him. More information on a Cronin who wrote music in the 19th century would be helpful. Put under "Anonymous" for now.
