This work is retrogradable, i.e. it can be played in retrograde motion. This short musical palindrome was added by Reicha as a post-scriptum to a letter to French composer Alphonse de Feltre on 18 November 1825. In the second half of the piece, not only are the notes reversed (horizontally) but also the intervals (higher notes become lower), as explained by the composer in a handwritten note in French:
- When performing this piece from the end to the beginning, the left hand does everything that the right hand contains from the beginning to the end, and "vice versa". The reversed clefs and key signatures at the end are written as such by Reicha.
